Our five-day itinerary offers you the ultimate adventure holiday in Iceland. Fuelled on geothermally baked bread, Arctic char and (for those who brave it) fermented shark, you’ll be sneaking behind bone-shatteringly powerful waterfalls, snowmobiling across vast icy glaciers and hiking across the spectacular frozen tongue of Sólheimajökull. You’ll also get a private tour of the Golden Circle and a stroll along a black-sand beach, plus entry to the Blue Lagoon on our final morning – those mineral-rich waters are exactly what your muscles will need having spent a few days going toe-to-toe with the elements.

This little South American gem might be small but it crosses both the Andes and the Amazon, which means a pretty extraordinary array of natural features to clamber over, across and through. Our eight-day Ecuador itinerary is full of adrenaline-fuelled activities, so be sure to stock up on chocolate in Quito. From there it’s non-stop, starting with a horse ride in Cotopaxi National Park and a hike around Limpiopungo Lagoon. The bravest members of your group will have a go on the vertigo-inducing Swing at the End of the World, while your bike ride along the Baños Waterfall Route will be the most scenic in your lifetime. As we approach the Amazon you’ll go whitewater rafting down Jatunyacu River and spot rainforest creatures on a nighttime jungle hike. Luckily, our Amazon lodge is as cosy as anything, so you can rest and recover before your trip comes to an end.

Atlantic Azores
This remote volcanic archipelago, far off the coast of Portugal, makes a case for being Europe’s premier adventure playground. Our six-day itinerary certainly echoes that claim, as we explore the many natural bounties of São Miguel, its largest island. The fertile volcanic grounds, and a warmer climate that Iceland, means this place glows in hues of green and blue. You’ll get to explore every shade as you cycle around the surreal volcanic crater lakes of Sete Cidades, before getting a closer look at those green waters on a kayak. You’ll go whale watching off the coast, canyon down slippery ravines in Ribeira dos Caldeirões and hike around Furnas Lake. Respite will come in the form of natural bubbling hot springs, evening cocktails and a hearty cozido stew, which you’ll help prepare before letting it simmer underground for six hours, cooking with only the geothermal heat provided by the island itself.

Blissful Bali
You might associate this Indonesian paradise with spiritual retreats and party tourists, but Bali’s magical landscape makes for a perfect adventure destination. Our 12-day epic blends the best of both worlds, with much of the high-energy activities taking place in the first week. You’ll trek across rice paddies to discover rural villages and scenic hilltop views, hike to Banyumala Twin Waterfalls for a picnic and a swim, as well as taking part in a challenging FlyHigh Yoga session. On day five you’ll set the alarms early for a stunning sunrise hike to the top of Mount Batur, a giant volcano with epic views across the island. Watching the sun gently bathe Bali in a warm glow, having walked all the way to the top yourself, is about as worthy a reward as you imagine. Later on we’ll speedboat you over to Gili Trawangan, a tiny island where a gorgeous beach resort awaits. If you’ve still got the energy you can snorkel with sea turtles and walk around the entire island (it only takes a few hours). If you’re tapping out, though, we don’t blame you – especially when you see the pristine beaches, the infinity pool and the onsite spa facilities.

You and your friends will feel like old-school explorers when you land on the Galapagos Islands, a remote archipelago off the coast of Ecuador, made most famous by Charles Darwin and giant tortoises. This five-day itinerary is all about close encounters with some of the world’s most exotic creatures, starting with two nights at a glamping site that shares real estate with upwards of one hundred roaming tortoises – luckily, these laid-back old timers are the perfect campmates. You’ll spot white-tipped reef sharks as you kayak in the Itabaca Channel, snorkel with sea lions and penguins, stroll past iguanas and see exotic frigatebirds on the lava trails of San Cristóbal.
