The Cape Winelands in South Africa is one of the most beautiful wine regions on the planet, and one of the most popular grape producers, too. Right in the middle of our 11-day odyssey along South Africa’s splendid Garden Route is some time spent at a luxurious country lodge in the middle of this region. Explore the tastes and terroir of Tuscany in San Gimignano
Embrace la dolce vita on this nine-day Rail Trip, touring the highlights of Northern Italy. Sip lunchtime wines at a local restaurant in rural Sicily
Ok, we didn’t want to double-up on Italy but can you really blame us? The wine culture is incredible in most Mediterranean countries, but there’s something about Italy that really gets us in the mood for a bottle or two. Plus, the island of Sicily is a heck of a long way south of Tuscany’s rolling hills, meaning the grape varieties grown in the almost-arid summers here can be very different. Day three of our Sicily trip starts with a hike along an old Roman trail in the Madonie Mountains, before we stop in the small town of Castelbuono for lunch and a wine tasting at an authentic local restaurant. There’ll be plenty more wine flowing throughout the trip, with palette cleansers coming in the form of fine chocolate and world-beating gelato. Delicious.
